New Homes and Jobs for Mid Beds

Welcome to Talk to Mid Beds – the place to have your say on where new homes and jobs in Mid Bedfordshire should be located.

Around 440 sites have now been submitted to Mid Beds District Council for potential residential and commercial development. Only a very small number of these will need to be developed to meet Government targets to provide 4,400 new homes in the area by 2026 and create 9,000 new jobs by 2021. Alongside meeting these targets, improvements are also planned to local services and infrastructure.

Mid Beds District has undertaken two rounds of consultation on these sites this year:

  • During the first round in February - April over 10,700 responses were received, commenting upon around 370 initial potential development sites.

  • During July and August a second round of consultation was undertaken on 70 new sites and proposals. The consultation period closed on 19th August

No other sites can now be suggested as part of this process and no further consultation can take place on the 440 sites as the deadline for submitting comments on all sites has now passed. However you can still view the sites and proposals submitted for potential development in your area by simply clicking on the map top right.

The results of the second round of consultation will be added to those already received to produce a final report to be published online in October. Using these comments a list of preferred options for development will then be put forward and consulted on in early 2009.
